In this paper we considered the life course of Russian generations. We studied the first reproductive and matrimonial events in the context of the start of an independent life. The main focus of the research was the change of the sequence of the first events. We analysed patterns of these events using Event History Analysis and Sequence Analysis. Our results illuminated the distinctions between demographic behaviour of the Soviet and post-Soviet generations.
